This guide will show you how to optimize your Windows Laptop for Vixi 3D. Click here to open this guide in a new browser tab.

Topics covered:

  1. Modify Laptop Power Settings
  2. Modify Nvidia Settings

i. Modify Laptop Power Settings - Switch your Power Plan to High Performance

If you want the classic High performance plan back:

  1. Go to Control Panel → Hardware and Sound → Power Options   High performance. If you don't see High performance, proceed to the steps below.

  2. Press Start, type cmd.

  3. Right-click Command Prompt → Run as administrator.

  4. Paste this and hit Enter to add the High performance plan:

    powercfg -duplicatescheme 8c5e7fda-e8bf-4a96-9a85-a6e23a8c635c
  5. In an elevated Command Prompt (the one you already used):

    powercfg /setactive 76f88731-b5e5-46bb-a7f4-b893e97f5c23

    Now confirm it:

    powercfg /getactivescheme

    You should see something like:

Power Scheme GUID: 76f88731-b5e5-46bb-a7f4-b893e97f5c23 (High performance)

If that’s what you see, you’re already running on High performance, even if Control Panel still only lists “Balanced”.

ii. Modify Nvidia Settings

  1. Open NVIDIA Control Panel → Manage 3D settings → Program Settings.
  2. Add your the Vixi3D.exe file.
  3. Set Power management mode = Prefer maximum performance.
  4. Apply.
